OBITUARY

Mr. Edw.ard Fitzsimons The death has occurred of Air. Edward Fitzsimons, of Lyndhurst Street, states a "Dominion” 'Special Service message from Palmerstou North. Air. Fitzsimons, who was an elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, took an active part in church work and his passing will mean a big loss to St. Andrew’s.

Born at Hawera, Air. Fitzsimons was 56 years of age. He was educated in the town of his birth and grew to manhood there. Thirty-one years ago be married Aliss Ellen E. Warsnop, :>f Frasertown, Wairoa. and subsequently resided in various places in the North Island in the course of his employment with t.he Railway Department. In Palmerston North he was employed oy the city council and also by Air. J. T. J. Heatley. In his younger days Air. Fitzsimons was a Rugby player and he had the honour of representing Taranaki. Later, he retained a keen interest in Rugby, and other forms of sport, lie was also a member of the Druids’ Lodge for a long period.. He is survived by a widow and a family of two sons, Alessrs. L. Fitzsimons, of Palmerston North. A. Fitzsimons, of Ohaupo, and three daughters, Airs. R. G. Smith and Misses Iris and Alary Fitzsimons, Palmerston North. There are five brothers and three sisters. 'The funeral was held at the Kelvin Grove Cemetery on Thursday, the service being conducted by the Rev. J. Hubbard. A short service was also conducted by the Druids’ Lodge. Mr. A. King The death lias occurred of Mr. Archibald King, aged 79. He was well known to Wellington motorists for the past eleven years. Born in Midlothian, Scotland, the late Air. King arrived in New Zealand in 1912. His association with the oil business extended back 55 years. He was on the staff of the Dean and Clippen’s oil works in Scotland, and remembered the time when what is now known as petrol had no commercial value and was poured into the ground. lie is survived by two daughters. Airs. W. Stevens and Airs. J. Crease, and four sons, Mr. W. AL King. Wellington, and three others overseas. Mr. O’C. D. O’Mahoney News of the death in Perth of Air. O'Connell D. O'Mahoney, national president of the Hibernian Society, has been received in New Zealand. Air. O’Mahoney, who was the Hibernian Society’s chief otlicer in both Australia and New Zealand, was also chief commissioner for State lotteries in Western Australia. He took an active part in philanthropic work, apart from his activities as president of the Hibernian Society, and was the holder of Leo’s Cross, a decoration conferred by the Pope. Mrs. Eliza Ratcliffe Mrs. Eliza Ratcliffe, who was born in Parnell and spent most of her life in the Auckland province, died at Frankton yesterday morning, aged 92. says a Press Association message.
