Men Unlawfully in House

Dargaville, June 12.

At a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court last night Mihaka Panapa, aged 23. a North Auckland Rugby representative, and George Rabui, aged 20, were each sentenced to six weeks’ jail on a charge of being found without lawful excuse in the house of Lilian Sarah Hampton at Kaihn on June 3. Both pleaded guilty. On a further charge of theft of three berets valued at 4/6. the property of Mrs. Hampton, they wore convicted and discharged.

Sergeant Culloty stated that Mrs. Hampton left the back door unlocked for the convenience of her sister-in-law. who was attending a dance in Dargaville. After she returned they were disturbed by snoring in the next room. They investigated and found the two accused in bed. Later Rahui gave utterance to obscene remarks. When the women arose the following morning the accused bad deeamped but the berets were found later at Panapa’s house.
