BOOK OF QUOTATIONS

“Benliam’s Book of Quotations,” by Sir Gurney Benham (London.: Ward Lock).

For one man, this must bo regarded as an extremely complete work, covering, as it does, almost all the possible sources for the quotations used. There is a superb index. It occupies about one-quarter of the book, making an already valuable volume doubly useful, and with its aid a reference on almost any subject may be selected in a matter of minutes. It is as interesting as a novel to read. Perhaps Pope and “Punch" occupy a disproportionate amount of space, but that is a matter of opinion. It may be comprehensively stated that any person interested in reading, writing or speaking for its own sake, will And Benham’s work of immense value.
