MOTOR ACCIDENT
General Damages Awarded

Greynioutli, June 8.
At the Supreme Court to-day, Corry Robert Coulson, carpenter, claimed £5OO general damages and £653 special damages from William Smith, of Matainui, South Westland,'farmer, alleging negligence 1 by defendant in backing a motor-car upon the road from a right-of-way as .plaintiff approached on a motor-cycle, plaintiff receiving injuries. The defence was a denial either of negligence or collision. Mr. P. J. O’Regan appeared for plaintiff'ahd’Mr.’C.'S. Thomas'for defendant.
The jury awarded £250 general damages.. Special damages were not disputed, but certain legal points were left to be argued. Mr. Justice Northcroft did not enter judgment, A nonsuit point raised was that plaintiff could have pulled up before 1 reaching the car. ....
