DEDICATION OF HOLY TABLE

A large congregation assisted at the dedication of a new holy table in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn, on Sunday morning. The admission of new communicants took place at the same service, and the minister in his sermon pointed out the appropriateness of this conjunction of the dedication of a table and the dedication of life. The basis of both was to be found in Chrsit’s self-consecration for their sakes. The table should stand in the church as a reminder of His promised fellowship with His disciples, and as a challenge to constant renewal of their Christian obedience. The new table is very solidly constructed of oak in the early Gothic style, with heavy arch traceries in the panelled front and ends. The text, “Behold the Lamb is God,” is carved on the top front rail in Gothic lettering. The heavy top is made in two panels, with five small crosses inlaid in cedar, and the whole is finished in a light nut brown colour with a waxed surface. It was constructed by friends within and without the parish to the design of the minister, the Rev. D. M. Hercus. Crystal flower vases were presented by the Bible classes attached to the congregation.
