Barmaids’ Registration (From “The Dominion,” Juno I, 1911.) Applications by barmaids for registration as required by the Licensing Act were received in large numbers at the Labour Department yesterday. The lists close to-day. The public, and the playgoing section of it in particular, will be interested to learn that at a meeting of directors of the Wellington Opera House it was decided to make a forward movement in the direction of providing a theatre which will be a great improvement on the Opera House. With a new Opera House, a new His Majesty’s, a new Theatre Royal, and possibly a new theatre for J. C. Williamson. Ltd., Wellington will be well off m this regard in twelve months' tune, LJ he old Opera House, vastly altered, has become the Resent Theatre. The theatres referred to in this item were all _to be legitimate houses, but only the Grand Opera House and His Majesty s (now the St. James) became accomplished tacts. Severn! picture theatres were under construction at tlie same time.] The Vulkan yard at Stettin. Germany, is building the Hamburg-America liner Imperator. a vessel ot 50,000 tons. The Imperator will be a sister ship to the Europa. [Acquired by the British after the war, the Imperator was renamed Berengaria.]
