Describing drinking at public dances as a serious growing evil which is “demoralising our young people,” the Auckland Farmers’ Union conference to-day passed the following remit: “That as drinking at public dances is fast becoming a serious social evil the Government bo urged to adopt measures that will prevent intoxicating liquor from being used at such dances.” -Mr. Ziman (Cambridge), who seconded tlie motion, said that the practice was a growing evil, and no one was fully armed with authority to deal with it. Several other speakers endorsed the proposal.
