Burns) 8 Also started: Squadron Castle (Dines), Pay Up (Dick), Mendicant Friar (Weston), Barry Star (Marshall), Convert (Beary), Abjer (Elliott), Noble King (Perryman), His Grace (Harry Wragg), Walvis Bay tLowrey), Magnet (Carslake), Raeburn (Sirett), Bala Hissar (Jones), Hauleryn (Lane), Carioca (Arthur Wragg), Spinalot (H. Jelliss), Midstream (Fox), Fearless Fox (E. Smith), Bel Aethel (Steve Donoghue). Boswell (Pat Beasley). Won by three lengths. On the day before the race Taj Akbar was favourite with Pay Up, winner of the Two Thousand Guineas second in demand. It was considered to be the most open Derby for several years.
