Revenue and Expenditure (British Official Wireless.) (Received May 20. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby. May 19. Exchequer returns show that total inland revenue, excluding self-balanc-ing items, amounts to £69.973.534, com pared with £80.357.781 at the corresponding date last year. Receipts from surtax are £3.140,000, against £2,930,000 in tiie same period of the last financial year, although the £9.739.000 from income tax is nearly £2.000,000 less than last year, thus illustrating the delayed effects of recovery on the yield of surtax. Customs revenue is £25,508,000, against £21.819.000 a year ago. Total ordinary expenditure, exclusive of self-balancing items, is £100.810,37(1. against £98.337.163 at the corresponding date in 1935.
