One American Survives PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP London. May 19. Miss Marion Miley, aged 21, a daughter of a Kentucky professional, is the only American left in the British women’s open golf championship, in which Miss Barton, runner-up in the last two years, and Miss Newell are now the favourites. Results include: — Second Round.—Miss Barton defeated Miss Firth. 5 and 4: Mrs. Dobell defeated Mrs. Walker. 1 up; Miss Newell defeated Mrs. Fishwick. 2 up; Miss Wade defeated Mrs. Back, 3 and 2. Third Round.—Miss Newell defeated Mrs. Newton, 3 and 2; Miss Barton defeated Miss Glutting. 3 and 2; Miss Molly Gourlay defeated Miss Wade, 3 and 2.
