On Mount Everest. —A view of Mount Pumori from the North Col of Mount Everest. It is on North Col that camp 4 of the Everest assault party is established. Owing to unfavourable snow conditions, camp 4 has been temporarily evacuated. The early arrival of the monsoon at. the eoast of Ceylon leaves the party a period of only about three weeks before the monsoon reaches Everest, after which no climbing will be possible.
