KEEN DEBATE ON TRANSPORT CONTROL
Legislative Council and Industrial Law Considerable legislative progress was made in Parliament yesterday, each chamber making headway with important industrial measures. There was keen public interest in the proceedings of the House, the galleries being well filled. During the afternoon the Factories Amendment Bill was given a third reading in the House of Representatives and passed on the voices. In the Legislative Council the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration .Amendment Bill was put through the final stages. There was a fairly close division on the clause providing for compulsory unionism, the voting being 18 to 13. The third reading, however, was carried by 24 votes to 7. In the evening the House resumed the debate on the second reading of the Transport Licensing Amendment Bill. The House rose at 10.20 p.m.
