British Branch Factories Not Expected (Received May 18, 9.25 p.m.) Sydney, May 18. The Minister of Defence, Mr. R. A. Parkhill, states that the manufacture of aircraft in Australia will need to be financed with Australian capita) as inquiries in Britain revealed no present. desire by British manufacturers io establish branch factories in Australia. There was nothing to hinder any manufacturer setting up an aircraft factory in Australia, Mr. Parkhill added. So far as defence was concerned, only machines of British or Imperial manufacture would be utilised. American machines would definitely not be used.
