The danger both to truffle amt children on country roads caused by large numbers of bulls being driven by one drover was emphasised by My. J. Dempsey at a meeting of the South Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union. Air. Dempsey said very often the drover started oiit with two or three bulls, but he picked up others en route and often had as many us 20 in the herd. Although it was illegal, u drover often left, bulls on the road wlnle ho went into a paddock to collect another, so that the animals were not under control, causing danger lo traffic and frightening school children. A remit advocating the employment, of two drovers where more than five buds were being driven was adopted.
