SUCCESSFUL YEAR Upper Hutt Plunket Society Satisfaction with the work done during the past year and with the present state of affairs' was expressed by speakers at the annual meeting of tho Upper Hutt branch of the Plunket Society last evening. Sir. S. Blackley presided. Among the apologies for absence were those of the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McCurdy. Mrs. Barkeiey .Smith, the president, extended thanks to all who had helped the branch during the year, and proposed a vote of thanks to the nurse, Miss Armstrong. Paying tribute to her enthusiasm and popularity in the district, she said that Miss Armstrong had every right to feel that she was very welcome everywhere. A vote of thanks was also accorded the president. Officers were elected as follow:—-Pat-roness. Mrs. Balcombe Brown; president, Mrs. Barkeiey Smith; secretary, Mrs. S. D. REMAND GRANTED Cai- Conversion Charge Arrested by Constable It. Griffith on Sunday. Roliert Allen Foote appeared in the Lower Hutt Court yesterday charged with unlawfully converting a motor-ear to bis own use. Mr. A. J. Gearing J.P., remanded him to appear on Thursday morning, bail being allowed in the sum of £lOO. , „ The car was owned by Donald Gordon Johnston.
