TAX ON BACHELORS
All Italian bachelors between the ages of 30 and 55 will in future have to pay a tax to the State of 155 lire (about £2/1(1/-). Bachelors between 25 ami 30 will pay £2, ami those between 55 and 65 30/-. Bachelors of over 65 are exempt from the tax. The reason for the difference in the tax is that the Italian Government considers the ages between 30 and 55 the best time to marry. The decree enforcing ibis tax. which was modified at a recent Cabinet meeting. will be enforced retrospectively as from January 1.
