Wells, president of Auckland University College, nt the graduation ceremony. “But,” be continued, “if science makes advances during the next 50 years equal to those made during the past; half century, and if the social sciences respond lo the call that is being made upon them to devise means for the more even distribution of goods among consumers, the children of some of those present tonight may live to see 20 hours of work a week on the part of tlie able-bodied between the ages of 25 and 50 sufficient to supply tlie needs of all.”
