FRENCH TENNIS WIN
Defeat of English Team PERRY REGAINS FORM Paris, May 17. France defeated England by 12 matches to 7. The results included: Perry defeated Destremeau, 6-3, 7-5; Boussus defeated Austin, 7-5, 7-5. Borotra and Brugnon defeated Hughes and Tuckey, 6-4, 9-7. Perry, recovering form, dominated his match. He played with terrifle speed, producing unanswerable returns. Boussus was always ahead. He made Austin go at top speed and caught him out of position with deep drives. Borotra and Brugnon outplayed the Englishmen in the doubles. AUSTRALIANS PRACTICE Probable American Doubles Pair (Received May 18, 5.5 p.m.) Germantown, May 17. Quist, McGrath and Sproulc, of the Australian Davis Cup team, engaged in a light work-out to-day, while Crawford took a day off and visiled New York. Among spectators at the Australians’ practice to-day was Mercer Bensley, the famous coach, whose observation was that the players were preparing their net advances very carefully and showing remarkable speed in covering the net. From developments at the American camp it appears likely that Budge and Mako will be selected to play in the doubles to replace the veteran Davis Cup combination of Allison and Van Ryn. The former beat the latter in three straight sets yesterday.
