GERMAN EMIGRE

Seeking a Home in New Zealand VICTIM OF NAZI POLICY Dominion Special Service. Auckland, May 15. "My son is British-born and 1 think he will be able to find a home in New Zealand,” said Mr. J- F- Kahn, a young German lawyer forced to leave his native land as a result of the Nazi poliej, who arrived by the Monterey. Leaving his wife and young son in London, Mr. Kahn has come to New Zealand with the object of making a fresh start, and he hopes to be able to send for them to come and live permanently in the Dominion. "1 have only a proportion of nonAryan blood, but that is enough today,” Mr. Kahn said. He was obliged to give up his profession, and as there was little prospect of making a living under tlie existing conditions in Germany lie went to France aud then to England, where his son was born. , In spite of their bitter memories the German emigres almost to a man retained their sincere love for their native country, Mr. Kahn said, and they directed their animosity against the present regime. Nevertheless a large number said they would dot return even if the Government were changed, as there was always the possibility that Nazi rule might be restored and they wanted to secure freedom and security for themselves and their children. "I would not go back myself to live,’ he said. There were a considerable number of German refugees in England at present, but the majority were in France. Personally, he thought they had behaved rather badly in France at first. When people took shelter in a country they should not enter at once iuto its politics as some had done. This had aroused some feeling and numbers were sent back to Germany until it was learned they were being sent to concentration camps.

Mr. Kahn, who speaks perfect English, will go first to Dunedjn, where he had a friend, and he may enter commercial life.
