LODGE MEETINGS

1.0.0. F. of New Zealand There was a large attendance of members and visitors at the recent meeting of Victoria Rebekah Lodge No. 2, Newtown, I. of New Zealand, among those present being Bro. G. F. Rudkin. Grand Warden, Bro. R. J. Mathers. D.D.G.M., Wellington district, Sister M. Sergent, L.D.D.G.M., Wellington district, Bro. H. 11. Coote, P.D.D.G.M., Sister Warne, Kowliai Rebekah Lodge No. 23, Feilding, and officers of Esther No. 30, Rose of Wellington, No. 38, and Rahiri No. 49 Rebekah lodges. Sister E. Duske. N.G., presided. Accounts totalling £l5/9/were passed, and correspondence and general business was dealt with. Three candidates were nominated for membership. The following officers designate were installed for the ensuing term by the L.D. D.G.M. (Sister M. Sergent) and staff: Sisters E. Duske, J.P.N.G.; I. Gubbins, N.G.; M. Smith, V.G.; E. Maley, F.S.; D. Kempton, R.S.; V. Unsworth, warden; G. MeConchie, conductor; J. McKinnon, chaplain; E. Grade, musician; E. Clark. R.S.N.G.; A. MacNamara, L.S.N.G?; M. Turner, R.S.N.G.; D. Mahoney, L.S.V.G.; D. Maley, 1.G,; and A. MeConchie, O.G. Visiting officers extended congratulations and good wishes, and on behalf of the lodge the L.D.D. G.M. presented Sister A. Palmer, P.N.G., with a past noble grand’s collar. - It was decided to extend thanks to Pyramid Lodge No. 5, Wanganui, for hospitality to members at the recent jubilee celebrations of that lodge. Two members qualified for district membership badges during the preceding term. Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge No. 38. Sister L. Merrie, N.G., presided over a good attendance of members and visitors at Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge. One sick member was reported to be. progressing favourably, and one candidate was nominated. After business had been dispatched the meeting was closed for a social dance in conjunction with Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24. Wildey Lodge, Island Bay. Wildey Lodge No. 107, Island Bay, held its usual fortnightly meeting recently, when Bro. J. Inness, N.G., presided over a good attendance. The visitors included the D.D.G.M., Bro. R. Mathers, the Grand Chaplain, Bro. F. Jones, and officers and members of Kupe Lodge on an official visit. Five members declared upon the sick fund, and two declared off the funds, sick pay. together with general accounts, being pawed for payment. Reports from all committees wore adopted. Three applications for membership were received. and a committee was duly appointed. Applications for degrees were accepted, names to be forwarded on to district for confirmation. Invitations from kindred lodges were accepted, and official visits arranged. The D.D.G.M. apologised for the absence of. the Grand Warden owing to illness. He then proceeded to induct into office the treasurer, Bro. E. J. Oxenham. who hud been prevented by illness in his family from being installed nt the usual installation ceremony. P.G. Bro. W. Hammond was also installed into his office. The D.D.G.M. then presented .past grands collars to Bro. Richmond and Bro. J. I’agani. Routine matters having been concluded, the lodge was closed to allow of supper and cards.
