“It is a pity that other local bodies don’t contribute their share.” remarked Cr. S. Blackley, after the Hutt County Council had decided at the monthly meeting yesterday afternoon to continue its usual contribution to the ’Wellington District Free Ambulance. Other councillors commented on the value of the service and the splendid way in which it was conducted.
Tlie management of the D.I.C. will give an afternoon tea reception to Miss Ethel Morrison and Miss Elaine Hamill, the two New Zealand actresses with the “Fresh Fields" company, at the tearooms on Tuesday next, at 2.30 p.m. Many of tlie loading amateurs and theatre patrons of the city are to be present to honour the guests.
