ROSS-CARROLL FIGHT
Date and Place Fixed (Received May 14, 7,30 p.m.) Chicago, May 13. Mr. Charles Lucas, the Australian boxing promoter, states that the RossCarroll title fight will take place at Sydney’ on December 8. Ross will receive 45,000 dollars, plus 5000 for expenses, with the promoters handling the taxes. Should Carroll win, Ross lias agreed to fight a return bout within 90 days. BOXER’S EYE INJURY No Match With Rosenbloom (Received May 14, 8.20 p.m.) Sydney, May 14. The boxer Leo Kelly is reported to be suffering from eye trouble, and the immediate prospects of a contest with the American Max Rosenbloom have been practically abandoned. A small metallic foreign body has been removed from Kelly’s eye, and complications have now developed which will keep him in the hands of a specialist for some weeks. The Stadium authorities may decide to match Rosenbloom with George Simpson, who twice defeated Kelly and who will arrive front America on Monday. LUTTRELL KNOCKED OUT (Received May 15, 12.40 a.m.) Sydney, May 14. In the first series of eliminating contests at the Newtown Stadium for the heavyweight championship of Australia, the New Zealander, Vai Luttrell, who did so well the night before at the Leichhardt. Stadium, was an easy victim for Pat Appleton, the latter knocking out the New Zealander in the second round.
