“Final nrrangemens have now been made with the Commissioner of Police so that when ti tramper is' reported missing the police will communicate with file federation representative in the centre concerned, thus setting in operation a satisfactory system of search organisation.” states the annual report of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand. The report adds that the police will request leave for the searchers required, in the case of both State and private employees, the leave and pay privileges of civil servants will not be affected by the absence for the period for which the searcher’s services are required, and the police will provide reasonable transport wherever possible.
