CAREFUL STUDY MADE

Company Sends Man to See Country’s Demands It is not generally realised that an infinite amount of careful study has been devoted to the requirements of New Zealand housekeepers , by the manufacturers of electric cookers. And yet, quite recently, the General Electric Company, Limited, of England, sent a man to the Dominion especially to assess the needs of our homes, so that its cookers would meet the peculiar demands of the country. As a result, the ‘'Magnet” electric cooker has been specially designed and manufactured by the company in England to meet New Zealand requirements. Manufactured only by this company, and distributed in New Zealand by its branch, the British General Electric Company, Ltd., the cooker embodies all the features necessary, for cheap running and long life. The standard model of general use is fitted with three high-speed boiling plates, each of which gives a remarkably fast boiling time af a cheap price. The latest of the company’s cookers are fitted, too, with large mercury thermometers and a specially balanced spring door which can be adjusted in tension. A two-yenrs guarantee against the breakage of any of the heating elements, subject to fair wear and tear, assures the housekeeper of very low maintenance costs. The cookers can be supplied in the generally acceptable French grey with enamel finish, or in a variety of colours, such as green and ivory, blue and ivory, buff and ivory.

To suit different types of kitchens, a variety of models lias been built. The small breakfast cooker can be fitted to the standard heating outlet —this cooker can bo used in the home or for the week-end bach as it is fully portable. The next in size is a two-plate model, suitable for a family of five or six. Tlie three-plate model will handle a family of eight to ten and the more elaborate high oven table type pattern is fitted with a very large warming oven compartment. At the low cost of electricity offered by the W Illngton City Corporation any of’these models will cook for the averaged sized family at from 7/- to 10/- a month—a price lower than that of fuel ovens.
