LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Ngaio Branch Meeting The Ngaio branch of the League of Mothers was very fortunate in having Mrs. Peter Fraser to speak at their May meeting. Mrs Rollings who, in the absence of the president, Mrs. Cummings, introduced Mrs. Fraser, spoke of the great interest taken by her in all welfare work, especially where girls and women were concerned. Mrs. Fraser spoke of her experiences during her trip to Great Britain last year, and of what she had seen of social welfare work there. There were great developments taking place In municipal housing schemes and several new avenues of employment were now opening for women in connection with these. Splendid work was being done in the welfare centres where girls and women were trained in infant welfare. Mrs. Fraser also spoke of various activities in India concerning the welfare of women and girls, making special mention of the wonderful work being accomplished by the Girl Guide movement. A vote of thanks was passed to the speaker at the conclusion of her talk, Mrs. Bringans presenting her with a beautiful bouquet. Mrs. Hartlll and Mrs. Castles gave musical and elocutionary items, which were much appreciated. Mother’s Day was observed by each member receiving a posy of white flowers. Afternoon tea and the singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
