APOLOGY ORDERED
Students Before Court By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, May 14. The pranks of three students who went to a former master’s home early this morning following the capping function brought them to the Magistrate’s Court charged with wantonly disturbing the inhabitant. After hearing the facts the case was dismissed on condition that an apology was tendered, the magistrate remarking that it was not a clever joke. The police stated that the students went to the master’s house at one o’clock and rang the bell, threw stones on the roof, and removed the gate, which was afterward picked up in a neighbour’s garden. The students were later located at the Octagon, when they were carrying a signboard removed from the High School rectory. They explained that it was a capping joke.
