SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS
Trust’s Basis of Allocation Dominion Special Service. Masterton, May 14. The basis of making scholarship grants was discussed at the annual meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust tonight. Mr, W. L. Butler, who raised the question, pointed out that Masteron Technical School pupils who desired o proceed to Wellington and elsewhere to take up apprenticeships, did not receive any assistance from the trust, whereas pupils attending the university did. The principal of he Technical School said several boys fully equipped to enter into apprenticeships in Wellington, were unable to do so, as they were without means to support themselves.
The meeting passed a recommendation to the trustees to reconsider the basis of making grants.
