OBITUARY
Mr. James McKee A resident of Masterton since he was 17 years old. Mr. James McKee died iu the Masterton Hospital on Tuesday following a brief Illness, states a "Dominion” Special Service message. Mr. McKee was born In Ireland SI years ago, and carried out contracting work in all parts of the Wairarapa district. He was a keen sportsman, and at one time was the owner of a number of racehorses. A daughter, Mrs. B. Grimstrup, and three sons, Messrs. Terence, Rupert and William McKee, all of Petone, survive him. The funeral left St. Patrick’s Church yesterday for the Masterton cemetery, after Requiem Mass had been celebrated. Mr. H. Betts Mr. H. Betts, of Okaiawa, died last night in his hundredth year, says a Press Association message from' New Plymouth. Mr. Betts was one of the early settlers in South Taranaki, and became an expert and successful farmer and horticulturist. His .beautiful home, Hollybank, was widely known. Mr, W. E. Williams The death occurred yesterday of Mr. William E. Williams, of Hokitika, aged 69, the best-known pharmaceutical chemist iu Westland, says a Greymouth Press Association message. He was a., ex-president of the Westland Racing Club and deputy chairman and director of the Hokitika Savings Bank. He leaves a son. Herbert, who Is in Australia, and two brothers—Percy (Wellington) ami Robert (Sydney). Mrs. K. H. McEvedy The death occurred suddenly at Christchurch yesterday of Mrs. Katherine Helena McEvedy, widow of Dr. P. F. McEvedy, of Wellington. Mrs. McEvedy was a daughter of the late Mr. Felix Campbell, one of the founders of Greymouth, and for many years one of its most prominent merchants. Site was born there ami was educated at the Sacred Heart Convent, Tiinani. She was married to Dr. McEvedy iu 1910. and spent the whole of her married life in Wellington. Of a lovable personality and a performer of many acts of kindness, she endeared herself to a host of friends. Mrs. McEvedy leaves two sons and two daughters—Misses Mary and Patricia McEvedy and Masters Patrick (a student at Massey College) and Desmond McEvedy (a student at St. Patrick’s College.
