High winds were experienced in Hastings and Napier during Saturday and Saturday night. At times the wind blew with the force of a gale, but no damage of any appreciable kind was caused. Tlie wind was spasmodic in force and direction. At limes yesterday it was bitterly' cold, but this morning broke clear and tine, with bright sunshine and an almost cloudless sky.
