The Siamese Prince Birabongse. whose design of a bronze fountain is exhibited at present at the Royal Academy, proved his versatility by winning the International Trophy race at Brooklands, averaging 91 miles an hour. Driving an Era car, he fought out a neck-for-neck duel over the last lap at a speed of 130 miles an hour with 11. Mays, British hill-climbing champion, who was also piloting an Era, Prince Birabongse flashing past the winning post four yards ahead in the finest finish seen at Brooklands for years. Prince Birabongse’s time for the 250 miles was 2 hours 52 minutes 29 seconds.
