During discharging operations on Friday afternoon a crane on Queen’s Wharf, Wellington, caught the mainmast of the American.steamer Golden Bear-at tho No. 1 south berth, and snapped off about 15 feet of . the mast above the crosstrees. No one was hurt. A similar mishap befell the liner Rotorua at the Pipitea “Wharf about three years ago, one of her pine masts being carried away above the crosstrees by a crane.
