Sir A. Chamberlain’s Visit To Central Europe (British Ollielal Wireless.) , Rugby, May 1. Sir Austen Chamberlain arrived in London last night after his visit to Austria. Hungary and Czechoslovakia. He denied that he had been on any mission; he had merely been on a visit to his old friend, Sir ’Walford Selby, British Minister at Vienna, who was formerly his private secretary when he was Foreign Secretary. It had been a puilely private visit from first to last. A mesoage from Berlin on April 24 stated that official circles were suspicious of Sir Austen Chamberlain’s visit to Central Europe, suggesting that it was not private, but aimed at ascertaining whether German propaganda endangered Austria and Czechoslovakia. Though the Foreign Office and Sir Austen Chamberlain emphatically denied that hie “extended holiday” in Central Europe has slightest political significance, the “News-Chronicle” attributed important motives to it. and asserted that Sir Austen was engaged iii a detailed study <>f Central European security.
