The “Middle Run” Stud was founded in 1903 with the famous PRIMROSE —‘ MONOPOLIST Strain, and has been judiciously linebred —the type is fixed and remarkable for perfect udders, capacious bodies, good heads, rare quality and exceptional dairy bone. This very prepotent strain has been preserved with great care at “Middle Run,” and nowhere in the Dominion can more valuable blood be obtained. We have made a recent thorough inspection of this famous herd, and we are satisfied it is of a higher standard to-day than at any period of its existence. Included in the herd are: — 4 V.H.C. COWS AND 19 H.C. COWS: These are practically all the members of the herd did enough to be classified. The cattle are young and as the Primroses mature slowly and last long it is felt there are many lots which will gam supreme honours. “Middle Run” sales are held at intervals of four and five years,and no females are sold privately. Hall, At the Homestead, SOMERSET ROAD, CARTERTON, THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1936, At 11.30 a.m. This sale is being held as the herd has outgrown the carrying capacity of the farm and everything is to be sold excepting three head of stock and one bull as the nucleus of t.he future herd. The offering will comprise:— 23 pedigree Jersey cows 4 pedigree Jersey in-calf heifers 7 pedigree Jersey yearling heifers 5 special stud bulls HEAD. The “Springlea” Stud, which is one of the choicest small herds in the Dominion, was founded with stock from “Middle Run.” and is strongly bred to the famous PRIMROSE—MONOPOLIST Strain, including REWA AMBROSIA, dam of the famous OWLER OF PUKETAPU, C. 8.8., and there are three maternal sisters, a maternal brother and many close relations to this phenomenally successful sire. THERE ARE 2 BEAUTIFUL V.H.C. COWS, 9 HIGH-CLASS H.C. COWS and 3 C. COWS IN THE OFFERING. Complete herd has been under Group Herd Test for three years. ’Io date, with one more period to go, the average is 3181 b. fat in 225 days, and the herd has been top of the Wairarapa Association for several months. At the Homestead, TE REHUNGA, DANNEVIRKE, FRIDAY, MAY 8, 1936, At 11 a.m. Mr. Phillips, who is giving up pedigree breeding on a large scale and will retain only two unsound cows, two in-calf heifers and (two yearling heifers, will sell as above: — 42 pedigree Jersey cows 6 pedigree Jersey in-calf heifers 13 pedigree Jersey yearling heifers 1 imported herd sire 13 stud yearling and two-year-old bulls HEAD. This famous old-established and successful Stud was founded with the famous MONOPOLIST, SUNFLOWER and VICTORIA Strains. It has been wonderfully successful in the Showring, having won many championships, while, under test without forcing, its. cattle have done remarkably well, having records ranging up to 8041 b. fat. The herd is to-day largely dominated bv the blood of the great imported sire BRAMPTON WONDERFUL OXFORD, who is included in the offering and represents the Islands’ very choicest strains. This bull’s daughters are producing 'eiy heavily and have already gained 10 H.C.’s. They have won several championships and many other high awards. The majority of the cattle have good C.O.R.’s or Govt.
