Representations are to be made to the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) that all physical drill instructors appointed in future to training colleges by the Education Department should hold the award of the Royal Life-Saving Society. The New Zealand council of the society, at its meeting at. Christchurch, approved a suggesttion from the Auckland centre that this should be done. The Auckland body stated that it understood more physical drill instructors were to be appointed. and it considered it essential that those instructors should hold the society’s award The secretary of the council (Mr. K. Bassett) remarked that the purpose of the request was to see that tbe correct method of life-saving was taught in the early stages. “It is on the right lines.” commented the chairman (Mr. G. E. Billson). The suggestion from Auckland was unanimously approved by the council.
