Legislators Discuss Government’s Proposals CONTROL AND GUARANTEED PRICES Further Consideration of Industrial Law Amendments Formal business in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon was brief, and members soon were tanged on part} sides for and against the Industrial Conciliation and At Inflation Amendment Bill in-the second reading stage. Features of the afternoon debate were the maiden speeches of Mr C. R. Petrie (Government, Hauraki) and Mr. 11. - Herring (Government, Mid-Canterbury). The former spoke vigorously with the tang of the Scottish moorlands in his speech, while Mr. Herring entertained the House with his naive ongma i j. In the evening, before full galleries, the House resumed the second reading debate on the Government s Bill providing for State control and marketing of dairy products with g? ar prices for the producers. The speakers were the Hon. Sir Alfred Ransom (Opposition, Pahiatua), the Minister of Agricultur c , Hon. W. Lee Martin, Mr. H. G. Dickie (Opposition, l atea), the Minister of Lands, Hon. F. Langstone, Mr A. C. A. Sexton (Country Franklin), and Mr. B.
