Auckland Chinese Fined By Telegraph.—Press Association." Auckland, April 29. As the result of police raids on Chinese pnkapoo ■ premises yesterday, Wong Lee, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of using premises in Grey’s Avenue as a common gaming-house. The magistrate, Jlr. F. K. Hunt, said that as it was his first appearance he would’ fine accused only £l2/10/-. Wong Yen, aged 72, pleaded guilty to a similar charge in respect of premises in Pitt Street, and was fined £25, in default three uroliths’ imprisonment, accused having been previously fined.
Wong Lock pleaded guilty to a charge respecting Hobson Street premises. As a first offender he was fined £l2/10/-. A charge against Mee Nam Lowe respecting premises in Grey’s Avenue was dismissed. Fourteen men found on tlie premises were fined £1 etieb, and three similar charges were dismissed.
