DEGENERATE TROUT
Culling Operations In Tongariro River Trout netting operations in a tributary of the Tongariro River are to be undertaken by the Department of Internal Affairs with a view to culling out degenerate fish. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, said in an interview yesterday that all possible data will be collected during the netting from which, no .doubt, there could be formed an idea of what policy should be adopted in the future. “A good deal of criticism as to the condition of the fish and many suggestions have come from anglers,” remarked the Minister. “I want to find out definitely what is in the complaints made and if these are justified, what can be done to rectify matters. I think the investigation that is to be made will help a lot.”
