FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
■• - ♦ Rain in most districts, cooler temperatures. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.ra. to-day:— A depression is crossing the Dominion, the centre to-day being west of the Cook Strait area. An intense anti-cyclone envelopes Australia and is centred near Adelaide. . ~, , . , Moderate to fresh westerly winds north of Kawhia and East Cape; elsewhere light to moderate and variable winds, becoming westerly and in many places southerly by to-morrow and freshening somewhat. Seas slight to moderate in New Zealand waters, but rising on the west coast ot the North Island and later between Cook Strait and Banks Peninsula Moderate to strong westerly to southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate to rather rough seas. . . Weather cloudy ta overcast, with mist or fog in places and ram at time- in most districts. Temperatures gradually becoming cooler. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER. Wellington.— Dull and misty, with a light, steady rain most of the day amt little or no wind. The minimum temperature on Tuesday night was 4-8.1 deg., the maximum yesterday 55.5 deg„ and the temperature at 4 p.m.. ;)4.Bdeg. Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended midnight, O.tMmRainfall tor April, 2.64 in.; for year. 20.91 in. . Palmerston North. — Heavily overcast, with several rain showers during the morning, but a slight improvement during the afternoon ; cool easterly wind. Masterton.— Dull and cloudy; continual rain showers; practically no wind. Wanganui.— Dull and overcast, with heavy rain all day. Waipukurau.— Heavy fog in the early morning was followed by a cold, net da.', with a falling barometer. . , n , Auckland.— Cloudy and threatening, with a moderate north-west wind. showers were 5 experienced early in the morning, and light rain occasional!.' afterwards. The barometer had been falling since midday Tuesday and Christchurch Overcast and wet, with a very light westerly wind in the morning, changing to light north-east in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 54.6 deg. g The barometer, after falling fast, registered 29.74 m. . . Dunedin.— There was dull weather early in the morning, but the sun boki I hiough later and conditions generally were pleasant for the greater pare of tne <ia. .
