Hutt Horticultural Society
The statement that the recent dahlia show showed a proiit of iO/ji - /- was uiude by the secretary at the monthly meeting of the Hutt \ alley Horticultural Society, over Which -Ur. D. S. Patrick presided. Ten new members were elected. A recommendation from the women’s committee to hold a horticultural bail at the end of April was referred back for lurther consideration, as the date would clash with the Red Cross and I’lunket ball.
It was decided to hold a monster bridge and card evening at the end of April to augment the hall funds.
The women's committee agreed to contribute £lO toward the cost of laying concrete paths around the hall. Motions of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mrs. G. A. Chapman and the late Mr. W. Playton were carried. A donation of one guinea toward the society’s hall fund was received from the Hutt Valley Producers’ Association. A letter was received from the Auckland society expressing appreciation of the assistance Mr. A. J. Nicholls, the secretary, had given during his recent visit to the Auckland show.
