Collision With Launch The 20-foot Auckland mullet-boat Allies capsized and sank in deep water between Waiheke and Motuihi Islands within two minutes of coming into collision witli the. launch Romance II The crew were on deck and were all picked up safely. Tlie mullet-boat was sailing closehauled, when the 35-foot launch, owned by Mr Arlington, of Otahuhu, overtook her to leeward. Travelling fast, the launch fouled the yacht’s main boom, and forced her onto her beam ends She filled up and sank. A large coil of coir line attached to the yacht and lying on deck floated when she went down, uud proved o_ great service in marking the spot with a view to salvaging the Allies. It was expected ' that this would! be managed successfully. The yacht was formerly known as Wyoming. She-is .owned- by a syndicate.
