Dyer, at a meeting of the board last, night. It wa,s also decided to place the board's appreciation of Sir Francis Bell's services and its .sympathy xvirb his relatives on record. Sir Francis Bell was a very honoured statesman, said Mr. Dyer, and was also associated for many years with the life and development of the city of Wellington. He took a prominent part in the administration of education in New Zealand and for some years xvas acting-Minister of Education. Tn the speaker's own district, Lower Hutt. Sir Francis Bel) had been mainly responsible for obtaining the magnificent site of the high school.
