ANNUAL MEETING

College Old Girls There was an attendance of about 100 old girls at Wellington East Girls’ College last night for the annual meeting and reunion of the Ohl Girls’ x\.ssociation. The meeting was held at the beginning of the evening, the president, Miss Batham, principal of the college, being in the chair. An interesting annual report was read by the secretary, Marjory Stone, and the secretaries of the tennis, basketball and dramatic clubs of the Old Girls’ Association also presented reports on the year’s activities.

The election o£ officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mrs. Holdsworth; president, Miss Batham, re-elected, vice-presidents, Mrs. Muir, Mrs. Christenson, Misses McCartney, Gardiner. Hind, Collins, K. White, K. Holdsworth, M. Barker, M. East, D. Carson, and members of the college teaching staff; lion, secretary, Joyce Myers; hon. treasurer, Mary Machell; committee, Joyce and Janet Mitchell, D. Barr. D. Cunningham, G. Lister, D. Franklin, B. Lamb, J. Duff, 0. Smith, D. Murray and M. Stone. After the meeting games and competitions were entered into with great zest, and a one-act play, “The Spinsters of Lush,” was presented by members of the dramatic club and much enjoyed. Charming bouquets were presented by the committee to Mrs. Holdsworth and Miss Batham, as patron and president respectively of the association. Later in the evening everyone went upstairs to the spacious cookery room for a sit-down supper. The long tables looked very attractive, decorated with gold streamers —that, with black, being the college colours—and goldshaded flowers mingled with maidenhair fern. A very happy reunion was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
