A plea for Government assistance in prospecting for oil at Centre Bush was made by a deputation from Southland Oil, Ltd., which waited on the Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, on Tuesday. Mr. Semple replied tliat tiie matter really came under tiie control of the Minister of Finance, with whom he would confer. He would see that the position was investigated. It would be very valuable from a national viewpoint were oil to be found in considerable quantities.
