SURF LIFE-SAVING

Wellington Teams For Dunedin DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS Much interest will be taken in the New Zealand national surf life-saving championships, which will be held at Dunedin next Saturday and Sunday. Entries received for the Nelson Shield number eight; the William Henry Memorial (juniors), two; New Zealand beltman’s championship, 15; New- Zealand marchpast championship, six; four-man alarm championship, 11; New Zealand surf teams championship, six; New Zealand junior surf teams championship, two; senior individual surf race championship, 20; junior individual surf race championship, seven. The champion team of the Dominion, Lyall Bay A, accompanied by the club’s B team, New Plymouth Old Boys and the Maranui senior and junior teams, will leave for Dunedin by to-night’s ferry. With the exception of W. Bell, a promising junior member of the club last year, who has been promoted to the senior team this term, replacing F. Ryan, who has been transferred from Wellington, the personnel of the Lyall Bay A team will be the same as that which won the contest last year. The team is J. C. Blakeley, VK, Bell, R. Pelham, J. Williams, G. Williams, F. Mollier and the captain. S. Muller. Lyall Bay’s B team will, be selected from the following: N. Milligan, L. McKeeman, A. Kelly, R. Pearce, B. Mclvor, L. Lawton, Hatchard and J. Rawston. W. Griffen will be captain of tile team. Maranui will be represented by one team in the Nelson Shield and one in the junior shield. Entries for Championships. Tho entries received for the national surf championships are as follow: — Nelson Shield (senior six-man championship) : Lyall Bay A (present holders), Maranu, New Plymouth Old Boys, Lyall Bay B, Oreti, St. Clair A, Canterbury and St. Clair B. William Henry Memorial (junior sixman championship) : Maranui and St. Clair.
