Farewell Evening A very pleasant evening was spent recently in the Mangatete Hall, Featherston, by about (10 people who had gathered together iu honour of Mr. and Mrs. Nightingale and their small daughter, Erin, who will shortly leave the district to reside at Wellington. Many couples danced until supper was served, after which Mr. Mac Wilson presented the guests of honour with a beautiful eiderdown and their daughter with a silver serviette ring. Luncheon Party A very happy hincheon party was held at the Elm Tea Rooms recently to bid farewell to Miss Helen Taylor before her departui'e for Australia, where she Will take up the position of assistant to a prominent elocution teacher of Sydney. Her friends, most of whom were ox-puplls of her old school, Chilton llotise, presented the guest of honour With a handsome book of verse. Among those present were Misses Adams' Aitken, Jones. Mitchell. Murdoch, Watson, Williamson, Woolf and Yeatman. Card Party The Kilblrnle, Lyall Bay and Mel-' rose Auxiliary Committee of the Wellington Returned .Soldiers’ Association held a successful card tournament on Tuesday evening at the headquarters in Bay Road. Kilblrnle. These weekly parties, which proved so popular last year, wore discontinued during the Christmas season and subsequently their resumption was postponed owing to Uie death of his late Majesty King George V. Mrs. K. Farrent and Mr. A. Turney were the successful players at ”500,” and Mrs. M. Leathwick and Mr. C. H. Knowles won the’ prizes for bridge. Supper was provided and served by members of the ladibs’ committee.
