Sumner Church Damaged

A fire under the roof of the Sumner Presbyterian Church last night damaged the building to the extent of about £3OO.

The outbreak appeared to have started just above the pulpit of the church. It travelled over the kitchen and the minister’s vestry, and, fanned by the ventilating system, soon set alight to the wodwork over the ceiling and the laths of plaster on the ceiling and walls. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The churc hwas not in use at thb time.

The building is insured in the Church Insurance Society at 'Wellington for £BOO.
