Appeal to Arbitration Court RESTORING POWERS Government’s Proposals Sent to Draftsman One of the first of Ihe Government's legislative proposals for consideration by the new Parliament early in March will be a Bill amending the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. The Minister of Labour, Hon. 11. T, Armstrong, mentioned yesterday that his proposals were now in the hands of the Law Draftsman. The main amendment will re-establish full powers to the Arbitration Court, restoring to workers the right of appeal to the court in the settlement of disputes. It is understood that the projected Bill will contain several now ideas, but so far the nature of these provisions has .not been ascertain able.

Mr. Armstrong also said that he now intended to investigate the apprenticeship law, the Shops and Offices Act, and the Workers' Compensation law with a view to the preparation of legislation. He added that he was ready and willing to receive representations from employers and workers.
