At Least Seventeen Killed
RURAL HOMES DEMOLISHED
(Received January 20, 7.45 p.m.) New York, January 19.
Tornadoes in several southern States and a blizzard which swept up the North Atlantic coast-line took a heavy death toll during, tlie past 24 hours. At least. 17 were killed and several scores injured. Terrific winds demolished rural homes in sections of Florida, Alabama and Georgia. At New York, which is covered with eight inches of snow and sleet, eight died of exposure or heart attacks attributable to over-exertion in walking through the high drifts.
