(From M Tho Dominion/' January 20, 1911.

In the Long Valley at Aldershot the War Office has conducted a number of interesting trials with an improved model of the military locomotive of the type which, for want of a better name, is called on account of the curious construction of its wheels, the '“caterpillar.” The locomotive hauled a 60-pounder gun used by the Royal Garrison Artillery with comparative ease over ditches and obstacles of all sorts.

Correspondence has beeqi submitted to the King urging his Majesty to utilise a gramophone for the delivery of his Coronation address to the people.

Proceeding ou file lines laid down in the Sliops and Offices' Act, tbe Trades Council is circulating a petition asking that Saturday shall be declared tlie universal half-holiday in Wellington. The council took the matter up at the instance of the Grocers' Union.
