TEST TRANSMISSION
Ground Communication Wanganui, January 20. At the Wanganui airport yesterday test communications from the air to the Castlecliff pilot station were carried out, and proved very satisfactory. The apparatus, similar to that used for sbip-to-shore transmission and reception, proved ideal for air work. Piloting and transmitting from ZK—ACH, Flying Officer I. Keith worked on a 150-metre band to establish contact with lhe pilot station, Mr. L. Barnes operating from lhe ground. Test transmissions were received clearly by both parlies. Mr. Barnes, who designed and built the set, which is frequently used at Wanganui by ships in the roadstead, has under construction a more compact and lighter set for aeroplane work, in which he hopes to embody entirely new features. Recently at New Plymouth tests were ..made by Flying Officer Keith with an airground apparatus.
